FloodAUS is a GIS-based methodology developed by Risk Frontiers to estimate mainstream flood risk address-by-address using:

FloodAUS risk ratings provide estimates of the Average Recurrence Interval (ARI) of inundation at ground level (GL), 1 metre above ground level, and 2 metres above ground level. The ratings are based on interpolation between flood surfaces ranging from ARI 20 years to, where possible, Probable Maximum Flood (PMF).

Current FloodAUS coverage:

  • 29 urban areas
  • 196 postcodes
  • 1.3 million addresses with risk ratings

FloodAUS risk ratings may be purchased at a range of spatial scales:

  • Urban area
  • Postcode
  • Census collection district (CCD)

Alternatively, Risk Frontiers offers a consulting service to analyse company specific portfolios. Risk Frontiers can extract maximum benefit from the data to quantify the flood risk for your portfolio.

Email riskfrontiers@els.mq.edu.au for data prices and quotes for consulting services:

  • Single purchases of data from more than four areas attract a discount
  • Risk Frontiers sponsors are eligible for substantial discounts
  • FloodAUS studies of other high flood-risk areas in Australia are on-going; additional damage estimation technologies are under development .
